Jane embarked on an epic road trip around Australia with her family in 2015. With sketchbook & paints in hand she recorded the journey & this exhibition shares her intuitive response to that adventure with paintings that she feels connects the soul to nature.

Jane describes herself as a painter for people who appreciate the beauty of the natural world. She creates landscapes for people who love creation & who have a need bring natural beauty into the built environment. Her work celebrates the joy, solace & rejuvenation that comes from spending time in nature & these paintings which are so rich in colour entice the viewer to explore our landscape & share her experience.

Indigenous Australians at War: From the Boer War to the present  will be on display in the Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery 24 June – 14 August

75 images present stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service and sacrifice during the Boer War, First World War, Second World War, Korea and Vietnam Wars, subsequent conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

A celebration of the courage, tenacity and resourcefulness of Indigenous Australians in the armed forces.

Balco Balaklava Art Prize entries invited

Balaklava2016 Balco Balaklava Art Prize

 Artists – both established and emerging – are invited to enter Balaklava Courthouse Gallery’s annual art prize exhibition, to be held from Thursday June 30 until Sunday August 28.

In its 26th year, and with award prizes of more than $3500, including the major prize of $2000, the 2016 Balco Balaklava Art Prize & Associated Awards exhibition invites entries across a range of media and genres, including sculpture, pastel, photography and prints. 11 award categories include novice, secondary and primary student sections, a Hangers’ Prize (after the style of the Archibald’s Packing Room Prize) and a People’s Choice Award.

Prize winners will be announced on Sunday July 3 at 2pm at the official opening of the exhibition, which is again proud to be part of the annual SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival.
